Templo de Debod at sunset

A real Egyptian temple, given to Spain, facing the best sunset in the city.

📍 Argüelles / Moncloa 👁 98 views

A 2nd-century BC Egyptian temple, dismantled and rebuilt in Madrid in the 1970s after Spain helped save the Abu Simbel monuments.

The building is interesting. The reason everybody goes is the view west over Casa de Campo, with the temple reflected in its pool. Arrive 40 minutes before sunset for a spot on the wall.

Free, outdoors, always open. Bring something to drink — there is a kiosk but the queue is long at golden hour.
