About MadridPlanz
MadridPlanz is a portal for people who are new to Madrid — expats, digital nomads, students, language learners, tourists, and anyone who has lived here ten years and still wants something to do on a Thursday.
How it works
- Browse anything without an account. Events, tour maps, museums, free things, guides — all open.
- Make a plan. Hit “Add to my plan” on anything and it lands on your profile as a list of what you intend to do in Madrid.
- Join what other people are doing. Open plans and events show who's coming.
- Find your crew. Groups are for the recurring things — language tables, running crews, game nights.
- Show up on the map. Optional, off by default, and you can hide again in one click.
Privacy, briefly
You get an identity when you arrive. We generate a name and put it in a cookie so you can join things immediately without filling in a form. It is yours to rename, save with a password, or delete outright from Account & session.
We log your IP address. Every page view is recorded with the address it came from, a reverse DNS lookup of it, and the country that address block is registered to, so the operator can see where traffic is coming from. That is personal data, and this paragraph exists because a site that keeps it should say so rather than claim otherwise. It is pruned automatically after the retention window, and you can see exactly what we hold about your own session on your account page.
No tracking cookies, no third-party analytics, no advertising network, no web fonts. Nothing about you is sent off this server — the only outbound requests the site makes are for the weather. Visitor counts additionally use a salted daily hash that cannot be linked across days.
Your location only appears on the map if you switch it on yourself, and the "use my location" button rounds your position to about 100 metres before it is stored.
